Tuesday February 16, 2010

I wake up around 10:00 again this morning. My parents are making a trip in to help my Grandma paint her bathroom at her condo. My brother wakes up early to go, as I opt to chill at home and get some more work done. I call my Dad and tell them I will meet up with them a little later, as we're all going out for lunch for my Mom's birthday, which is tomorrow. I hang up, jump in the shower, make a quick breakfast, grab a cup of coffee, and hit up my office to do some more writing.

About a half-hour into my attempt to work on the script, I become completely unmotivated and hit a massive writer's block. Deciding to just close everything up before I really fucked up my brain, I opt to chill out in my room and just watch a movie to try and take a break from writing and let the creative juices start flowing again. I throw in Glengarry GlenRoss, as I'm in the mood for a solid dialogue driven film, which this is one of the best.

The movie finishes around 1:00 or so and I decide to head over to my Grandma's to meet up with the fam. I throw on some clothes and cruise over there. My brother and Dad aren't finished with the bathroom yet, so I sit out in the living room visiting with my Grandma, Grandpa, and Mom, just shooting the shit. They ask about the progress of my script and we get on that subject for awhile. My Grandma insists that I let her read it sometime, to which I reluctantly agree, knowing damn well I will never let her read it. There's a lot of naughty words in there, enough to probably give my Grandma a heart-attack at the mere thought of her youngest Grandson writing such filth. But I just humor her and tell her I will get her a copy of the finished script when I can. My Mom kind of understands, making the sarcastic comment that the film better be "PG-rated" and fun for the whole family. I sarcastically agree that it will be. She knows I'm full of shit.

We finally head out to Country House for some lunch, or early dinner at this point, as it's going on 4:30. I order up a buffalo burger and tear the thing apart. My Uncle Bill and cousin Carrie end up joining us, making for some grand and entertaining discussions, as my Uncle Bill is anything but a graceful story teller. We all toss around horror stories about dealing with the Comcast people, as well as many other things that just piss us all off. My side and cheeks hurt from laughing so much by the end of the meal. A good time is had by all.

I bid my family farewell and told my Mom I will call her tomorrow on her big day. Hugs all around, and I'm on my way home. I get a call from Justin, who's already out front of my condo with Mary and Steinhaus. I get home and let them in and we get into some heavy beer consumption while playing an array of drinking card games. Needless to say, we all get pretty bombed.

Around 12:30 or so, Mary cruises and I decide that we need to take a walk over to the gas station across the street so I can pick up a pack of smokes. I've been trying to quit lately, but I really am craving one right now and Justin is out of ones to spare. I have already successfully cut out smoking and driving, which was the hardest one. So now I only smoke when I'm with my friends drinking. We walk over to the gas station and I get my first pack of smokes in over a week and a half. We head back to the condo and finish up the case before Stein and Justin cruise home. I clean up the cans and head into the bathroom to brush my teeth. I then proceed to pass out in my bed while watching Dog Day Afternoon.
